GeigTech Gets $2.67M In Window Shade Patent Retrial
A federal jury in New York has found in a retrial that lighting fixture company Lutron Electronics should have to pony up $2.67 million for infringing a company’s window shade patent.
According to the docket in U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon’s court, jurors on Wednesday found that $2,672,000 is the reasonable royalty figure Lutron owes. No further details were available on the jury’s decision as of Friday. The retrial came after an earlier trial in March, in which a jury awarded GeigTech $34.6 million for Lutron’s willful infringement. However, Judge McMahon in July found that amount to be excessive and told GeigTech to choose between a $3.8 million award or a new damages trial.
GeigTech is represented by Donald A. Ottaunick, Pekham Pal, Gianna Zapata, Gary R. Sorden, Brian L. King, Aaron Davidson, Vishal Patel and Amanda L. DeGroote of Cole Schotz PC.
