Critical Mass With Law.com’s Amanda Bronstad: Los Angeles Jury Convicts Tom Girardi of Wire Fraud, Johnson & Johnson Puts a ‘Pause’ on Planned Talc Bankruptcy

Tom Girardi, who founded Girardi Keese in 1965, was convicted on Tuesday by a federal jury in Los Angeles on four counts of wire fraud.

I asked former federal prosecutor Michael Weinstein (Cole Schotz), who is following the trial, about Girardi’s decision to testify. He told me:

“He’s a professional actor. Your stage is the courtroom. All he has done his entire life is adjust and pivot and be able to assess the courtroom as his stage and dial it up and dial it down when he was presenting cases and arguments for 40-plus years. Even if he has a mental deficiency, that training and experience still comes out.”
