DEI Pros See Path Forward For Legal Industry Amid Hurdles

New Jersey’s legal industry diversity, equity and inclusion professionals face a stormy outlook, with fatigue over DEI initiatives setting in, organizations rolling back their commitments and little support coming from the state Supreme Court.

James A. Lewis V said at the panel his firm has begun looking more closely at its involvement in diversity pipeline programs and decided to double its amount given for scholarships.

“I know oftentimes people say, ‘Oh, you just cut a check and that’s not really making a difference’ — you cut a check to the right place, it can change lives,” Lewis said.
