With thirty-two years of legal experience in the fields of patent litigation, commercial litigation, and licensing, including proceedings before the Patent Office, Brian Carpenter has appeared in at least four hundred cases, the majority of which were patent cases.
A staunch advocate with business savvy, Brian advises clients on how to best protect and monetize their intellectual property assets. Through careful execution of the law, Brian guides clients through issues involving all forms of IP, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, licensing, and protecting IP assets through corporate transactions.
Additionally, Brian’s practice spans outside the world of IP law to include general commercial litigation. He regularly advises on cases involving breach of contract, antitrust, trade secret, unfair competition and other business torts.
Willing to go where he is needed, Brian has been significantly involved in cases in courts across the nation, including the Eastern and Northern Districts of Texas, District of Delaware, Northern District of California, District of Colorado, District of Utah, Southern District of Florida, Eastern District of Michigan, and District of Massachusetts.
Brian has tactile technical experience gained from his former career as an engineer for the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas. He is naturally interested in technology, and so has gained extensive knowledge on a broad range of technologies ranging from complex digital electronics and computer architectures to less complex mechanical devices.
He has also received a Certified Information Privacy Professional (“CIPP”) certification through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (“IAPP”), further equipping Brian with the tools needed to successfully provide counsel on issues related to data privacy and cybersecurity.
